Ancient – Troubleshooting Guide
1. SteelSeries Moment Overlay (FOR GEFORCE)
Send to customer:
Disable and then re-enable the GeForce overlay in your settings.
2. SteelSeries Sonar Overlay (FOR STEELSERIES)
Send to customer:
Before launching, press the Sonar bind button to activate the overlay. Press it once when it says Downloading Data.
3. Flickering Menus or Black Screens
Send to customer:
Go to SteelSeries → Settings → Moments → Capture and Sound → Disable "Allow Moments to capture while gaming".
4. Bind Button Does Not Work
Send to customer:
Try reinjecting. If the issue persists, run the overlay as administrator.
5. Huge FPS Drop
Send to customer:
Please try disabling "Resize BAR" and "Above 4G Decoding" in your BIOS settings.
The exact location of these options may vary depending on your motherboard model. We recommend searching online for a tutorial specific to your motherboard for guidance.
6. No Menu or Loader Closes Immediately
Send to customer:
Install the missing library: https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe
7. Error 0x296
Send to customer:
Reinject and try again.
8. Unknown Network Error
Send to customer:
Check your internet connection. Avoid using a VPN if possible or try another server/country and try again.
9. Failed to Allocate or Map Memory
Send to customer:
Reboot your PC and try again. Also clean up autostart programs.
10. Failed to Load Dependencies
Send to customer:
Disable all antivirus programs and remove anti-reader tools. If the issue persists, clean the autostart programs.
11. Vanguard/Faceit Detected
Send to customer:
Completely uninstall Vanguard or Faceit anti-cheat from your system, restart and try again.
12. AES Instruction Set Not Supported
Send to customer:
Please enable AES-NI in BIOS if possible and try again.
Supporter Note:
If the error persists, the CPU is not compatible with the software.
Inform the user:
"Unfortunately, your processor does not support the AES instruction set. This cannot be fixed.
A refund isn't possible since the key has been exposed but in this case we could reset the HWID and you could give it to a friend.
In addition we would like to offer you a 20% discount on your next purchase."
13. VT-X / AMD-V Must Be Enabled
Send to customer:
Enter your BIOS and enable "Intel Virtualization Technology" or "Intel VT-X" / "AMD-V" / "SVM Mode".
14. VMX/SVM Not Supported
Send to customer:
1. Go to Control Panel → Programs and Features → "Enable or disable Windows Functions".
2. Make sure "Virtual Machine Platform" and "Hyper-V" are disabled.
3. Open CMD as administrator and run:
bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
-> Then restart your PC.
4. If you're using Windows 11 and this did not help, run PowerShell as administrator and paste the following:

15. RAID or Virtual Disk Detected
Send to customer:
Disable any active spoofer or go to your BIOS and disable RAID. A clean reinstallation of Windows may be required.
16. Unsupported Firmware
Send to customer:
Convert your system disk from MBR to GPT using the built-in mbr2gpt tool or a third-party partition manager. Then switch the BIOS from Legacy to UEFI mode.
17. CRD Failed to Init / Render Errors
Send to customer:
If you're on a PC, your GPU may be too old. On laptops, disable the integrated graphics card in BIOS.
18. Incorrect HWID
Send to customer:
Open CMD as administrator and run the following commands:
wmic diskdrive get Caption, SerialNumber
wmic baseboard get SerialNumber
If either command fails, there may be an issue with your system. Reinstall Windows and try again.
